Ohio University Students Defending Students was founded in 1976, as a subsidy of Student Senate. For 40 years, we have been providing students with help and advice as they work through the Office for Community Standards and Student Responsibility process.
​
Students Defending Students (SDS), is an organization dedicated to serving the Ohio University community by representing and counseling students through the Community Standards process. SDS strives to protect students from the violation of their rights by the university or the judiciaries. SDS is a non-profit organization and is run entirely by student volunteers who have been trained on the Ohio University Community Standards process.

Have an advisor present and active (that's us!)

Speak or don't speak

Examine all witnesses and testimony

File a written appeal within three business days of a CSSR decision

Admit or deny the charges against you
With the Police

If you are not under arrest you have the right to calmly walk away

You do not have to open your door or let them in your dorm room.

You do not have to tell the police your age if it may become a factor in the crime your being accused of.
